Dec’s new Friend

We went shopping and Dec brought back a new friend.  He named it Huggy Huggy.

The dad don’t quite approve of this new choice of friend but the mum happily paid for it and let him lugged it home.  The mum actually would love to bring back a hot pink version of Huggy Huggy for herself if not for the dad’s nagging…  So.. what to do… it’s either he gets one or I get one… so the big hearted mum decided to forgo hers and let the boy have his…

Huggy Huggy is really huggable!  It made a nice zzzzz mate.  I’m still thinking of my very own hot pink Huggy 😡

New School update

As shared in the last post, Dec will be attending K2 in Kinderland after being in Cherie Hearts for the last 4 years and Kenji will be reporting to Apple Tree for his 2 hours playgroup.  As expected, Dec adapted really well and fast to the new environment while Kenji probably need more time to be left alone without his main caregiver for a 2 hours stretch daily.

Dec claimed that he prefers Kinderland to Cherie Hearts.  That’s good news to me.  I was worried that he’ll be upset for being seperated from his good old friends.  Seems like the worry was uncalled for. phew!  His new teacher feedback that he is adapting really well.  On his 1st day, I asked whether he needed me to stay on and accompany him, he bravely shook his head and sent me off.  So, off to office I went but I sneaked back at 10am to check on him.  I peeped through the classroom window and saw him doing group activity with his new classmates, no sign of distress.  It’s been a week so far he seemed happy.

Now to update on didi’s progress.   the 1st day wasn’t really positive.  He was probably confused by the new environment.  1st day at school was a short 1 hour session.  Parents went thru a short briefing and the kiddos get a little taste of assembly and group playing followed by purchase of uniform.  Day 1, the kids wore home clothes to school.  Kenji started fussing while we queued up to get his temperature taken.  He clinched his fists really tight when teachers tried to check his palm.  He refused to give up his pacifier.  I sat with him in the marked square where the little kids are suppose to assemble each morning.  A short while later, teacher encouraged the parents to leave the kids in the assembly area and sit along the wall and watched how the kids react.  Kenji was ok for awhile.  He continued playing with the toys while I sat at the side watching him.

The little one in white polo T with blue stripe is him.  That little moment of independence did not last long.   Shortly after that he kept straying back to look for me and soon, he started fussing again.  He just wanna go home….  Day 1 ended with him refusing to give the teacher a hi-5. haha

Day 2, he wore his uniform for the 1st time.

I like his bright red uniform.  The little kids looks really cute with a full set of red uniform.  Day 2 ended up with him crying to go home again.  Day 3 was more positive.  The grandma said that he seemed happy and was pretty co-operative.  The rest of the week, no more crying but that’s because the granny was allowed to stay in the class with him.  Teachers will probably sent the caregiver out by next week, hopefully this little one will survive 2 hours apart from the ah ma.  Keeping my fingers crossed really tightly.

Last update of 2009

*blow blow* *brush brush* ahem..  got spider web and thick layer of dust already :p it’s been 2 months since my last update.  Not that there is nothing happening in our life just that a sudden wave of laziness hit me right in the face and press me down for the last 2 months :p

Before 2009 waves bye bye to us, I thought I better try my best to update what has happened thus far.

In summary, I lost my 2nd uncle, my granny has undergone a surgery, recoverd and moved in with me and will be rotated between 3rd uncle’s and my house every 3 weeks, I’ve reported to work at new workplace, Kenji is improving in terms of expressing his needs and his views and the latest is, Dec will be reporting to new school comes 4th Jan 2010.

I received an email yesterday evening, informing us that the school will need to vacate it’s current premises by March 2010 as the landlord will not be renewing the lease.  The school will be holding a meeting with parents only on 9th Jan 2010.  This news came rather abruptly.  It got me worried.  Declan will be in K2, to me, K2 is a crucial year to prep him for Primary school and if there is a need to change an environment for him, I rather do it in the beginning of the year.

In my view, the new venue is not ideal and it is really not convenient for me.  Thus we decided to pull him out of the current school which saw him through playgroup to K1.  I’m sure he will miss his friends and I too, will miss the teachers.  Cherie Hearts Learners’ Cove has always gave me a very homely feel.  I trust them totally and never have to worry about whether my kid will be treated badly when he is there.  I hope the new school will give me the same level of confidence to trust them that way.

In a flurry this morning, we managed to go through the enrolment process, bought him his new uniform.  I hope he’ll be able to adapt to his new environment next Monday.

On a happier note, little Kenji will be attending playgroup starting next week as well.  That boy can’t speak well yet, so I hope he won’t frustrate the teacher.  He is not as sociable as his elder brother so I forsee he might cry on the first few days.  Anyway I hope I can handle better this time round, having been through Dec’s 1st weeks at playgroup.

For the new year I will just wish for health and happiness for my boys and family.

I’ll just share some pics here.  I was greatly amused earlier on.  I came back and saw this :

Ain’t that the most stylo sleepng pose of the year???  I wonder how he can sleep that way..

The cheeky as usual kor kor.  ohh I must add his appetite has improved greatly!! Though he is still not eating alot but at least we need not force him to eat anymore.  phew!  He WILL ask for food now as oppose to going without solid food the whole day.

The 2 bros are getting along pretty well with occasional squabbles but the squabbles are never serious.  It is usually the didi that is more petty.  He don’t like to share his stuff with kor kor, while kor kor will generously share his things with didi.  Didi will snatch korkor stuff at times but Dec will usually let him have it, if the small one insist.  Such a pleasant kor kor.

Recently, I realise didi likes to mimic kor kor.  Kor kor says :” YEAH!!” he will go :” YEAH!” as well.  Kor kor walk with hands at the back, he will follow as well. Quite funny to watch the duo.

I hope they will continue to co-exist in such a peaceful manner with minimal sibling rivalry.

I’ll try to update more frequently, if I am not lazy 😡

How to synchronise them??

Few weeks back Bray and Ethyl was deposited at Mil’s place.  I came home and saw the 2 little youngest one playing and interacting with each other.  So cute! Thus I thought I wanna snapped a pic of the duo.  Little did I know that the job can be so tough.  It is practically impossible to get both of them to look the same way at the same time….

The pics turned out like this :

The best shot i got was this :

At least they were synchronized for once!! And guess what attracted the duo??  TV ads….

Avid Reader?

Last weekend I heard didi woke up and moved around the house.  Since he didn’t roam into my room to wake me up, I just continue to snooze.  After awhile, I noticed all was quiet.  I got curious and wonder whether the little boy had fallen asleep again.  Thus, I dragged myself out of bed and sneaked into the boys’ room and I saw this :

He was sprawled on his bed and quietly flipping through one of his favorite character book.  This little one is so different from his brother.  When Dec was his age, he would usually wake up crying for milk.  At times when he don’t cry for milk, he’ll practically dig us out of bed.  I’m quite glad that the little one don’t fuss much when he’s the first to get out of bed and he is independent enough to keep himself entertained.

Here’s him with another of his favorite book.  He loves everything that is related to Thomas the Tank.  He can’t quite pronounce Thomas at this moment, so he lovingly refer to Thomas and Friends as “pooo poooo” haha

I do hope he’ll continue to love books.  Currently Dec only likes to flip through the pages and look at pictures, he’s not really keen in reading yet…  I do hope both of them will pick up the good habit of reading in future.

A Sweet Whisper

While playing FB games in my room, I heard this sweet little whisper floating in from the next room :” I love you good night, Kenji..”  follow by a soft muah.

That’s from none other than my first born… His baby brother had fallen asleep but he did not forget to wish him goodnight and gave him a goodnight kiss.  I find it awfully sweet 🙂

My New Cup

I got this gift from a vendor.  Cute not??

I like it alot!! I think my morning coffee is gonna taste so much sweeter from now on!! *beam* I’m gonna bring it to office so that whenever i need a break I’ll have my kids to accompany me, how nice!

Since I am clearing my leave, I made myself breakkie this morning.  I just go for some simple french toast since I got leftover bread in the kitchen.

I used the recipe from the same book which I got for the scrambled eggs.  I didn’t really like it cos the french toast tasted soggy and too milky to me.  I like my french toast more eggy rather than milky.  I’ve got some more bread slices in the kitchen expiring soon..probably I’ll try making some again tomorrow.  I’ll omit the milk and see whether the whole thing will be less soggy and more eggy.

I realise my elder boy is very good at making himself feels at home and comfy in all sorts of places.  You can find him sprawling across Macdonald’s bench enjoying his ice cream, walking in a leisure pace, taking in scenery while the mum is jumping up and down way in front of him trying not to be late for work, sitting on the floor of shops trying out shoes etc etc.  I always joke that he should be borned an australian not Singaporean.. He seems to be oblivious to our local fast pace whereas the mum is a kanjiong spider who is forever hurrying to places while this boy will take his own sweet time in everything he does….  Sometimes I wonder whether I should slow down and see things from his point of view,  at his pace but I just don’t seems to have the patience…..

See how this boy “parked” himself and savor the mango pudding which I served him?

He looks so relaxed right?? When i bought this chair for him.. it seemed to fit him nicely but now it looks as if it’s a tad too small for him….. He has grown much taller over the past few months.

Ok let’s look at the younger one now.  I noticed he is slowly learning this lounging habit from the elder brother.  When he wants to watch TV, he’ll know how to hunt for a comfortable parking space.  You will never see him sitting on the cold hard floor.  We finally got a playmat for the boy and that has since became his parking spot.

2 nights ago, didi actually decided to spend his night out in the living room, on the mat.  He made himself so comfy on the mat that he fell asleep there.  KorKor got really excited and grasp this “camping” opportunity.  He diligently went into their room and move out all their pillows, bolsters and blankets.  Including the dad’s hahahahha.  He even crafted nicely a spot for himself and another spot beside him for the dad.

Of course the dad ain’t too happy that he’s been dictated to squeeze with the boys on that piece of mat and right at the spot where the balcony use to be.  After some negotiation, Dec let the dad off the hook and the dad was “granted permission” to sleep on the sofa which was just a few steps away.  I was sniggering at the corner feeling glad that I was not summon out for the “camping” as well.  phew!!!

Guess what?? The 3 males are out in the living room again tonight!! hhahahahah I hope this will just be a passing fad for the boys.  Otherwise I will seriously consider renting out their room to earn some extra income hahaha

Sunday again, we’ve got no plans…  I woke up near noon :p (ok ok I know that is not a good habit) and decided to prepare some food for the boys… Breakkie food but at noon time :p  Here’s what I made for them.

Homemade scrambled egges, sausages and grilled cheese sandwich.  The duo didn’t quite finish their food.  Surprisingly, this time, Declan stomached more food than Kenji.  I realised that Kenji seemed to prefer chinese food as in rice and porridge while Dec preferred western food.  I myself have a preference for western food during breakfast ahem or maybe it’s more appropriate for me to call it my 1st meal of the day.

I don’t really like to cook.  The only meal that I enjoy preparing is breakfast or our 1st meal of the day.  I can’t quite make lunch nor dinner at this point of time.  Lets see whether I’ll change in time to come.  Actually, I hope I do.

Will like to share this really easy and yummy scrambled eggs recipe which I took from this book which I borrowed from the library :

Ingredients (serves 2) :

4 eggs

15g butter

3 tbs milk

Method:

1) Beat eggs and milk lightly with a fork

2) Melt butter in a heavy-based frying pan over very low heat and pour in the egg.  Stir constantly with a wooden spoon, lifting the mixture from the bottom of the pan so that it cooks evenly.  The eggs are ready when they are just set but are still creamy.

3) Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Our Saturday

Though it’s a long weekend this week, unfortunately we do not have any plans for the boys… Thus we stayed in on yesterday and spend our time on books bakes toys and games.

The elder boy got my genes when it comes to playing games.  He simply love computer and handheld games.  Since he do not have “I Can Read” class today, I allow him to play some disney online games yesterday morning as he need not do any homework.

I’m glad that at this stage, Kenji is happy with just watching his korkor play.  He is intrigued by mickey and gang hopping around on the screen.  He thought he was watching cartoon. hahah.

I hope the fight to use the comp won’t come so soon.  As it is, I already have Dec fighting with me to use the desktop, DS and Wii… if the little one join in the fight it will be a 3 way competition and I will appear to be a lousy mum for fighting with the boys.  But hey!! Games are my main hobby other than reading!!  Since the 2 little ones are occupied and as usual the dad is snoring away, I’ve got some time to myself so I started reading  my newly acquired book – Management Lessons from Mayo Clinic.  I only managed to cover 1 chapter but it’s a pretty interesting read and it’s not just for people from healthcare industry.  It is suitable for people working in the service industry on the whole.  Do pick up this book if you have the time.

In the evening, I finally got the courage to try my hands out at making some snowskin mooncakes.  The recipe looked simple enough, no bake.  I love to eat mooncakes but I actually prefered the bake ones.  Since I am a newbie at such things, I decided not to be too adventurous and stick to the no bake snowskin mooncakes.  End result as follows :

ehhh i didn’t really handle the moulding too well.. u can see break lines across the patterns :p  I’ll need more practice… Taste wise not sure yet as all of them are still sitting in the fridge and I’ve not touch them yet.  will probably try later and eat them as tea break.  Those who are keen to try can access the recipe here .  I am hoping I will have enough courage to attempt the baked ones next week.   Give me courage!!!
